Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church and Skidaway Community Church Co-Hosting Easter Sunrise Service
Members of Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church (SEBC) and Skidaway Community Church (SCC) joyfully invite friends, neighbors and area visitors to join them in celebrating the beauty of Easter morning together on Sunday, April 9.
The 6:30 a.m. Sunrise Service will be held at “Butterbean Beach”, the park conveniently located on the intercoastal waterway between Skidaway Island and the neighboring Pinpoint community.
Acapella singers from both congregations will offer glorious music of the season. SEBC Sr. Pastor Zykee Evans, Jr. and SCC Pastor Jon Hauerwas will each share Good News of Easter messages. Both faith leaders welcome this new opportunity to bring community neighbors and friends together.
According to the Pastors, “As leaders of two of Savannah’s early faith communities –SEBC in 1897, SCC in 1977 – our congregations have a long-shared relationship. This joint Sunrise Service offers the opportunity to raise our collective voices in praise and thanksgiving for the beauty of this place we both call home as we celebrate the gift of our risen Lord. What a meaningful way to bring our two communities together! We look forward to welcoming all to this special corner of God’s paradise on Easter morning,” they said.
Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs. Ample free parking is available adjacent to the Beach pavilion.
Immediately following the service, light refreshments will be offered to all. For additional information, contact SEBC at 912-355-9072 or SCC at 912-598-0151. If inclement weather prevents gathering on Butterbean Beach, the Sunrise Service will be held at Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church, 9630 Lehigh Avenue.
