DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN, YOUTH AND ADULT PROGRAMS

Purpose:
To develop and administer a comprehensive program of Christian education, including mission opportunities and fellowship activities for the children, youth and adults.

Hours:
The position is full-time. Regular hours include Sunday mornings for oversight of the nursery, Sunday school classes, tween and youth group education and fellowship. Other hours may vary dependent on children, youth and adult mission activities and fellowship events.

Exempt

Wages and Benefits:
Salary range is commensurate with skill set and experience and includes three weeks of vacation (to be taken to minimize impact on program delivery). Health insurance coverage can be provided following the successful completion of a probationary period. 

Accountability:
Administratively responsible to and supervised by the Pastor; collaborates with the Discipleship and Fellowship Committees; cooperates with all staff and all church committees and subcommittees as needed.

Education and Experience:
Demonstrated Christian character and commitment in daily life and the ability to articulate a personal faith journey.

A Bachelor’s degree in religious education, ministry, or other related fields, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in church ministry or 3 years of experience in education, communication, social work, counseling, or a related field/position working with the public. Ability to organize and implement programs and activities with minimal supervision and follow-up. Experience recruiting, training, and coordinating an active core of volunteers.

Position Priorities:

Create and oversee Christian education programs for children, youth, and adults. Develop and implement program for Parenting/ Family Support meetings.

Recruit, train, and provide orientation to all Sunday School teachers, youth group leaders, and adult educators.

Gather and maintain attendance records for all groups.

Collaborate with each ministry team to develop and implement mission opportunities and fellowship activities for each age group.

Children:
Develop and implement an annual schedule of education activities and fellowship events such as Halloween activity and Christmas Pageant.
Coordinate the activities with Program Staff, church committee ministries, and with community organizations as needed.

Youth:
Coordinate with the Pastor to organize and conduct Confirmation classes.

Nursery:

Recruit, interview, and recommend persons to be hired as staff.

Annual Mission Trip:

Research, organize, and implement an annual, intergenerational mission trip.

Communications:
Communicate with families via a monthly email announcing upcoming activities.

Ministry Organization:
Provides overall organization and structure to programs above. Maintain and distribute control documents (directory, activity calendars, event and trip registration forms, etc.); recruit volunteers to assist with these tasks as needed.

Other responsibilities as necessary to meet emergency or temporary situations.
