Palm Sunday
10 am | Skidaway Community Church
Palm Sunday is a transitional Sunday from Lent into Easter. It recognizes Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Congregations worldwide wave palm leaves while the processional described in Luke’s gospel is acted out on small and large scales. For some traditions, the narrative shifts strongly midway through the service as the Passion story, which tells of Jesus’s betrayal, trial, crucifixion, and death, is read. Sunday’s service at SCC will focus specifically on the processional story, including a special choral introit and the traditional Palm Sunday hymn, “All Glory, Laud, and Honor.”
Maundy Thursday
Community Seder
5:30 pm | Liston Hall
Rabbi Robert Haas of Congregation Mickve Israel will lead an abbreviated Seder dinner in Liston Hall at 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 17th—Maundy Thursday. Gathering for this abbreviated Seder will join both Jewish and Christian faiths together in a sacred space that honors both our shared roots and distinct faiths. While the Seder recounts the physical liberation of the Israelites, Christians also reflect on how Jesus, through His sacrifice, brought spiritual freedom for all people. Both traditions emphasize themes of deliverance, covenant, and the hope of redemption. The meal will be provided by a Kosher caterer and consists of symbolic elements that will be explained by the Rabbi. Read more about this interfaith event in the March 21, 2025 edition of The Skinnie.
