AmiciMusic, the award-winning musical organization led by new Savannah resident, pianist Daniel Weiser, will begin a new free summer chamber music series (donations gratefully accepted) at Skidaway Community Church on Wednesday, June 11 at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary. Their first performance is a unique and intriguing program that will combine two different Piano Trios that are a response to Vivaldi’s famous “Four Seasons.” Max Richter, a German-born British composer, takes Vivaldi’s tunes and decomposes and recomposes them into constantly repeating loops that produce an almost ghostly reflection of the original, producing a very minimalist approach that puts the listener into a truly hypnotic trance. Astor Piazzolla, the Argentinian composer who helped bring the tango into the classical world, takes a decidedly more forceful and aggressive approach in his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires that echo the tension of that erotic dance of love. They will combine these two versions, alternating Richter’s seasons with Piazzollas to produce their own exciting Remix of Vivaldi’s amazing work. Joining Dr. Weiser will be violinist Veronika Sveshnikova, originally from Siberia, and cellist Jacques-Pierre Malan from South Africa. All three have performed in numerous countries around the world.

AmiciMusic, meaning “Music among Friends,” is dedicated to performing high-quality concerts in intimate venues and to breaking down the barriers between performers and the audience. They aim to make their concerts informal and relaxed and Dr. Weiser always talks before each piece to put the composer into socio-historical context and provide clues for what to listen for. Their concerts are always thematic and educational—truly “Edutainment.” Founded by pianist and Artistic Director Daniel Weiser originally in Asheville, NC, AmiciMusic uses top musicians from around the world who are passionate about chamber music and to communicating with audiences through their music. Future concerts on the series will be “DOUBLE TROUBLE–Great music for two violins and piano” on July 9 at 6:30pm and “FOUR-HAND FIREWORKS” on July 30 at 6:30pm.
