Birthday Fund Provides Welcome Relief, Enriches Ministries
As we celebrate our birthdays each year, each member of Skidaway Community Church receives a special birthday card that includes an opportunity to give to the Birthday Fund. Our congregation has been very generous over the years by making contributions based on the ages of all their family members. Every gift is much appreciated!
Impact
So—what happens to these monies? The Missions Committee uses the funds throughout the fiscal year for special donations, as well as emergency needs of the missions we regularly support in the annual budget. For example, in 2025 the Birthday Fund allowed SCC to additionally help provide $500 each in matching programs for
Common Hope and Faith in Practice, our two mission programs in Guatemala. The Birthday Fund paid $600 for the two trucks used for our annual Annual April Shredding Event in that raised $17,704 for SAFE Shelter.
The four local community organizations that participated in the October series were each given $100. When the government shutdown impacted local hunger relief programs, the Birthday Fund sent $1,500 to each of these local groups: Emmaus House, Second Harvest, and Meals on Wheels. The Birthday Fund with Christmas donations also helped provide 92 gift cards for the holidays for homeless veterans in The Cove community.
To date in 2026 the Missions Committee voted to support our SCC Preschool with a
$500 donation for the family Valentine’s Day dinner. Birthday funds also provided $1000 to disaster victims in the Asheville, NC after the hurricane, as well as $500 for a Mission Trip through The Savannah Presbytery.
Your contributions for birthdays and other special occasions enable us to do so much more to help our brothers and sisters in Christ and go beyond our budgeted benevolences. Glorious thanks to each of you for your exceptional generosity!
